Lan is a design engineer who specialises in
scaling systems for B2B products.

I start by soaking up the bits and bobs of the company: how big the team is, who's in charge of what, and whether it's a solo founder, a small team or a scale-up. Then I learn about the company's mission, dissect its product and look at potential competitors.

Next, I adapt to the team and their product. I go through every token and atom if they have them, and look through every surface and feature. It's always refreshing to tinker with a new product demo. I also like to spend time observing how different teams work. Every team works differently and there's no right formula, so I want to get to know them and see what I can bring to the table that benefits everyone.

Time to start the work! I'm a firm believer that building a strong foundation helps you move faster in the long run, even on a tight deadline, because my toolkits are versatile enough to take me from zero to something very quickly. Then comes rethinking every flow and feature, and working out how to optimise them to convert. I always work alongside product leaders and engineers so handovers stay smooth.

In the lead-up to launch, things can get stressful, so I always do my best to polish everything up and stay in touch, ready to support the team whenever they need me.
